So many of us are now forced to do something that we haven’t done before and that is being quarantined. Being stuck at home with our family is not something that happens often especially for weeks on end. And those weeks drag on and feel like months on end have passed. But what do we do in quarantine? That is the main question going around.

What To Do In Quarantine
With such an unexpected amount of time on our hands, we are bored. And I mean so bored that some of us are getting really creative and posting some crazy stuff on social media. Which is good actually because they are doing something. But what about the rest of us? Isn’t there a better way to spend our time at home then scrolling through social media and watching everyone else do things? Yeah, of course, there is.

Start Reading
For some of us, we still like reading and find time for it in our regular lives. On the other hand, there are those that want to start reading more and now is your time. Pick up a good book that you have been wanting to read for a while now or you can find a book about something new you wanted to learn.
That could be anything because there is a book out there for everyone. You could go with a good fantasy fiction book or series, historic non-fiction, or even books about a career you always wanted to pursue. I personally went for books that would help me learn more about business and marketing but to each their own.
Now I know that libraries are closed right now, but there are other ways to read in our twenty-first-century. That means you can either order a book from places like Amazon or you could get an ebook. There are many apps for phones that let you buy and store ebooks, but if you like to read a lot or read many types of books at once I highly suggest Amazon Kindle.
The only reason is that instead of buying each book they have an option to read as many books as you want which is called Kindle Unlimited. It does cost $9.99/month, but the first month is free. They have a ton of books that you can read for free and a great selection of topics.
I do want to upfront with you that there are a few downsides to it. First is that you can only pick 10 books to read at a time. Second is that you don’t get to keep the books once you return them. And lastly is that not every book is able for you to read in the unlimited version so you might not be able to get your favorite book if it does not say it is a part of the unlimited plan. Otherwise, I think it is wonderful.
Starting A New Hobby
Have you ever wanted to learn a new language, try doing yoga, start baking, or maybe sewing your own clothes? Well, what better time than the free time you have now. You shouldn’t let being in quarantine stop you from trying something new (unless it is a large in-person group activity) it should actually be your time to go for it.
Whatever it may be, try spending your time on a new hobby or even a hobby that you might have been letting slip by because of your daily rat-race. Give it a shot and honestly, if you fail at it now you have plenty of time to get better before we even are able to get out of quarantine.
Just don’t let this opportunity to do something you love or try something new end up slipping by. Make the most out of this time to come out of all of this chaos better than you were when it started.

Start A Blog
Yet another great thing to do while being quarantined is to share information with others. And blogging can do just that. I mean you are reading a blog right now that is sharing information with you. But a blog can even be something more personal if you want it to be like it could be more of a journal for yourself or just to share what is going on with your family and friends.
There is something about blogging though that can be beneficial to you though. If you start one or try out blogging during this time then you can find out if blogging is a new passion for you. Or if you have already thought about it it would be a great chance for you to start.
I do want to say that blogging can make you money. It is a long process to start getting good money, but if you put in time and effort now you have a better shot than if you keep waiting. It is not easy money or a get-rich-quick scheme
If you do want to try blogging then I suggest checking out Blogger.com or WordPress.com. But if you are really wanting to start a blog that can make money you will need a self-hosted website like Siteground. Right now if you are ready to jump into the world of blogging then Siteground is only $3.95/month and they are known for their great customer service in case anything happens.
Finish Projects You Never Got Around To
We have all started projects before and never got the time to finish them. Ta-dah you now have time to finish it! That is if you actually wanted to.
Now there are many projects that can be left on the back-burner when life gets harder and we have less and less time to spend on other things besides work. Yet, now you have the free time to do something about it. Go ahead and finish those projects you have been longing to finish.
You could even start a new project if you wanted to. But if you have unfinished projects that mean something you will feel more productive if you finish it instead of starting something new. Though if you finish your old projects you may still have time to start and finish a whole new one.

Spring Cleaning
You are stuck inside of your house for the most part because of being in quarantine, so why not clean it out? It is spring after all and that means it is time for spring cleaning. Get to dusting, mopping, wiping down the windows, doors, and walls. Just get to it.
The best part about spring cleaning is that you are helping clean all of the areas in your house that may have been contaminated by the Coronavirus even if you didn’t know it was. It is better to be safe than sorry when it comes to your health.
There is more to spring cleaning than just disinfecting the house. There is the part of decluttering all of the junk that was collected over the winter. Getting rid of toys your kids don’t play with anymore and clothes that don’t fit. Going through papers that you kept that needs to be thrown out if you don’t need it. Finding what has made its way into the couch and into hiding spots. And cleaning all of the appliances in your house and finding those missing socks or controllers.
There is a lot that needs some TLC when it comes to spring cleaning. Oh, but don’t get overwhelmed. You have plenty of time to clean and it doesn’t need to be done in just one day. Just remember to take it one step at a time and listen to music while you get it done because then it is a lot more fun and less of a chore.

Attend A Virtual-Rave-A-Thon
If you love music and are extremely sad like me about all of the festivals and shows being canceled and postponed then attend a virtual rave-a-thon. DJ’s right now are sad that they have had to cancel their shows and are actually putting on live shows from where they are, at home.
You can check on social media to find out when your favorite DJs are planning on going live so that you can tune in. There are also these amazing Rave-a-thons that Insomniac Events is hosting with live DJs and throwbacks of our favorite festivals.
If you really want to feel like you are back at the festival then the best thing to make it all feel real is dress the part at home. You can get a lot of rave clothing on sale right now which you really should take advantage of.
I know that iHeartraves has been having back-to-back sales for a while now. These sales vary from 30-80% off of nearly everything they have, if not everything. And if you want an extra 10% off added to the sales they already have then use my code LIFEOFAURA at checkout.
Oh and don’t forget to get glitter and face jewels to make your outfit complete. You can even show off your Virtual Rave-A-Thon outfits on social media.
Redecorate
Sometimes change is good for people and so why not change it up a little in your house. If you are starting to feel suffocated for being home all day then change up the way your furniture is set up or redecorate the walls. I bet you have picture frames without pictures in them that you like, go find that great picture and the best spot on the wall for it.
If your house starts to feel dreary find something bright to accent and uplift the room. Maybe add your favorite colors to the rooms. Or even add a souvenir from your travels that bring back great memories to the rooms in your house that you are in the most.
You could also do something more drastic by changing the color of the walls. I wouldn’t do it on a whim though. Make sure it is well thought out because you don’t want to hate the color the next day or week. But if you have been putting it off for a while now then have some fun painting the house. It can even be stress relieving when you have fun painting.

Break Out The Board Games And Puzzles
That is right you need to have some fun while you are stuck at home. And I bet you have some old board games laying around the house that never get played. It is time to change that. Game time is family bonding time and it can get you off of electronics for a little while at least.
Now if you don’t have any board games lying around, but you have a gaming system then you can still play board games. There are games on Xbox, Nintendo, and PS4 that are actually sets of board games that you can play on your system instead of the floor. Which is another great way to still play older board games that you used to play when you were younger without needing a physical board game.
If you don’t have board games or just don’t like them then try puzzles. Puzzles are known to reduce anxiety and give you time away from electronics all day. It is pretty interesting because puzzles have actually been cleared from some store shelves in these past weeks because people are wanting to do puzzles a lot more now that they are home.

How To Make The Best Of Being In Quarantine
There is a difference to just doing something while in quarantine and actually making the best of being in quarantine. While there are things that you can do that would fit into both it doesn’t mean that you are always making the best of the situation. And that really has to do with your mentality and productivity of the time you actually spend in quarantine.
Stay Positive
This is the biggest thing that can make or break a person when they are basically in isolation. You may still have friends and family that live with you in the house, but if you don’t stay positive everything can go south.
That is easier said than done because if you live with family then there are bound to be arguments and sibling rivalries and some pretty close distance to each other that you might not be used to. But you need to look on the bright side and make the most of your time being home with your family and having people to talk to face-to-face.
If you live alone you may feel completely isolated and sad because of not having a lot of interaction with others. But that is where you need to spend time on Facetime and talk to friends and family.

Stay Connected With Friends & Family
Don’t let quarantine make you feel as though you have to be an introverted hermit. Reach out to your friends and family. Spend time on Facetime to actually see each other.
You can even be on social media sharing updates and pictures with each other. Just make sure you go beyond messaging and commenting and actually call or Facetime someone. It makes a huge difference because if you have ever watched the Netflix show The Circle, a social media competition, you notice how emotions and meaning behind words are lost in translation when it comes to only messages.
While going through this tough time being able to feel the emotions someone else is having as they talk to you makes you feel less lonely. It reminds you of humanity and that while on social media you might forget that the person on the other end of the message has feelings too. So it brings you back down to earth so-to-speak.
Bond With Your Family Or Friends
Whether you live with some of your family or if you live with some friends make sure to actually bond with each other. Don’t just all sit in the same room on your phones doing different things. That isn’t bonding. It is just being in close proximity to each other.
Try playing video games like Mario Party or Mario Kart or even Super Smash Bros to do something together that can actually bring out some time for bonding with each other. It also can bring out a little friendly competition between family members and friends. Just try not to let it get too far when competing because then it becomes toxic.
Board games work too when spending time with family and friends. It doesn’t always have to be a game either. You can spend time bonding while cooking together, baking, making a craft, painting a room, playing an instrument, fixing cars, etc..
Bonding can come from anything really as long as you are trying to actually connect with each other over an activity. Instead of just being close enough and calling that bonding.

Learn Something Useful
Lastly, don’t just waste your time scrolling through social media and watching viral videos. Actually learn something useful. It can be anything, but it has to be useful to you personally. Something that will better your days ahead or your career or even the way you eat.
There are many useful things that the world forgets about and as technology advances the younger generations may never even know about it. So take the time to better yourself.
Learn to cook, keep things organized, or play an instrument. Learn marketing techniques, programmer skills, photoshop skills, YouTube techniques, or how the stock market works. It really can be anything.
Quarantine doesn’t have to be as horrible as people are making it out to be. It can be fun. It can be a useful time for bonding with your family or getting things done you never had time for. You just need to make the most of the situation. Stay positive, stay productive, and find ways to lessen your boredom by doing something new.
